Mechanically there is nothing exotic here: EF-cine is plain EF underneath — a 44 mm flange, a 54 mm throat and the eight-pin EF protocol wrapped in a 0.8 MOD geared cine barrel — and L-mount's 20 mm register sits 24.0 mm inside it, exactly the same 24 mm gap an EF-to-RF adapter fills (RF and L share the 20 mm register). Cine glass is built to be pulled by hand on a long-throw geared barrel through a follow-focus or wireless FIZ, so the 'MF' is the lens's design, not a shortfall of the adapter. The 'no IS' reflects that cine primes carry no stabiliser — on an S1H or fp you lean on the body's sensor-shift I.S. where present, or on a rig and gimbal where it is not.

Image circle is the easy part, because both catalogue CN-E primes cover full-frame and most of the alliance is full-frame. The CN-E 50 T1.3 L F and CN-E 85 T1.3 L F shoot clean edge to edge on a full-frame S1H, BS1H, S5 II, S1R II, S9, fp, fp L or SL3, giving the 50 its natural normal field of view and the 85 its portrait length. On the APS-C Leica CL or TL2 (or a body's S35 crop mode) the same primes simply read their central circle and frame about 1.5× tighter — the 50 lands near a 75 mm-equivalent, the 85 near a 128 — turning the pair into a tele-leaning kit rather than vignetting. One caveat to keep honest: the MC-21 passes the EF protocol's electronic iris and basic lens identity, but it does not carry the full Cooke /i cine-metadata stream a factory PL mount reads — for lens-data-aware VFX you would shoot the PL-mount CN-E variant on an L-mount body's PL kit, a different SKU and a different page.

The honest summary: EF-cine → L-Mount is the route for putting Canon's CN-E cinema primes — or any rented EF-cine glass — onto the three-brand L-mount alliance with a single Sigma MC-21 EF-L. Match the full-frame CN-E 50 and CN-E 85 to a full-frame S1H, fp or SL3 for their design field of view, accept the ~1.5× tighter framing on the APS-C Leica CL / TL2, and run the whole rig as a manual-focus, body-driven-iris cine kit. Because the CN-E L F set is parfocal and shares a common length and 105 mm front diameter, a focus puller marks one rig and swaps the 50 and the 85 without rebalancing the matte box — and because the alliance shares one mount, that same kit moves between a Panasonic Netflix-approved body, a Sigma cine cube and a Leica SL without changing a single adapter.
