Canon's APS-C-only EOS M mirrorless mount, discontinued in 2023 in favour of RF/RF-S. EF and EF-S lenses adapt via the EF-EOS M adapter with full AF and IS, but the M-system lens lineup itself stays small. No native EF-M ↔ RF adapter from Canon.

Canon EF-M sits at 18 mm — highlighted in orange below. The flange-distance gap between the mirrorless and SLR clusters is the room a mechanical adapter occupies; that gap is why almost every SLR lens adapts onto every mirrorless body, and why the reverse is mechanically impossible.

What cameras use Canon EF-M?
Canon's EOS M-series APS-C mirrorless line: EOS M, M2, M3, M5, M6, M6 Mark II, M10, M50, M50 Mark II, M100, and M200, produced 2012-2023. EF-M was discontinued in 2023 in favour of RF/RF-S; Canon will not release new EF-M bodies but service and parts continue.
Can EF-M lenses adapt onto a Canon R-series body?
No — Canon never released an EF-M-to-RF adapter and no third party has built one. EF-M is APS-C-only with a different flange (18 mm vs RF's 20 mm) and a different contact protocol; the lens lineup stays trapped on the M-series body line. Going the other way (EF lens onto an EOS M body) works via the Canon EF-EOS M adapter with full AF.
Will old EF lenses autofocus on an EOS M body?
Yes — the Canon EF-EOS M adapter preserves AF, IS, and electronic aperture on every EF and EF-S lens since 1987. It's the recommended path for EOS M users who already own EF glass, since the M-system's native lens lineup stayed small (around eight EF-M lenses total over the system's lifetime).
