Fujifilm X sits at 17.7 mm — highlighted in orange below. The flange-distance gap between the mirrorless and SLR clusters is the room a mechanical adapter occupies; that gap is why almost every SLR lens adapts onto every mirrorless body, and why the reverse is mechanically impossible.

- Can I adapt Canon EF lenses to Fujifilm X-mount with autofocus?
- Yes — the Fringer EF-FX Pro II and EF-FX III preserve AF, IS, and electronic aperture on most modern Canon EF lenses with continuous compatibility updates pushed over a USB-C firmware port on the adapter itself. Older Viltrox EF-FX1 adapters cover the same ground at lower cost but with slower AF acquisition. Image quality through pure mechanical EF→FX adapters (no glass) is unaffected.
- What's the largest sensor size that fits Fujifilm X-mount?
- APS-C only — Fujifilm reserves their medium-format mount for the GFX line under the separate G-mount name. Every X-mount body (X-T5, X-Pro3, X-H2, X-H2S, X-T50, X-T30 II) uses a 23.5 × 15.6 mm APS-C sensor. The 17.7 mm flange and 44 mm throat were designed around APS-C image-circle requirements; the geometry would not support a full-frame sensor at the same flange depth.
- Will Fujifilm GFX lenses fit on an X-mount body?
- No — GFX uses the larger G-mount (26.7 mm flange, 65 mm throat) and is medium-format-only. No Fujifilm or third-party G-to-X adapter exists; the physical interfaces are too different to bridge with a passive ring. Fujifilm's only cross-system path is the GF-to-X teleconverter for specific GF lenses, but that operates inside the GFX system on GFX bodies, not on X-mount bodies.
