What this adapter preserves

Compatibility for Sony E lens on a Nikon Z body (computed from the lensmount dataset — open the Sony E to Nikon Z adapter page for the full verdict, flange clearance, and adapter caveats).

  • Focus: Full AF
  • IS: IS / IBIS preserved
  • Aperture: Electronic aperture
  • Infinity focus: Reaches infinity

What it does

USB-C firmware updates; Megadap publishes a maintained per-lens compatibility list covering native Sony G/GM glass plus most Sigma DG DN and Tamron Di III lenses.

Flange clearance is tight (E 18 mm → Z 16 mm = 2 mm), so the adapter is a thin ring. Heavy 70-200 / 100-400 zooms should be supported by the lens collar, not the adapter, on the Z body.

Specific lens compatibility

Per-lens notes for the Megadap ETZ21 Pro based on the vendor's published compatibility chart and community-tested behaviour. Three states: works () — full AF / IS / aperture behave as native; partial () — usable with a documented caveat; issue () — known incompatibility or rough edge.

LensStatusNote
Sony FE 70-200 mm f/2.8 GM OSS IIWorksFull PDAF + Eye-AF + OSS pass-through on Z8 / Z9 from v2.0 firmware. Subject-detect AF works as on a native Z lens.
Sigma 100-400 mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS ContemporaryWorksv3.0 firmware specifically refined tracking. Full PDAF + Animal / Bird subject detect on Z8 / Z9.

Common questions

How well does AF work on Sony G / GM lenses through the Megadap ETZ21 Pro?
Excellent on Z8 / Z9 / Zf with v3.0 firmware — full PDAF, Eye-AF, and Animal / Bird subject detect. Z6 II / Z7 II are also fully supported with single-point and wide-area tracking.
Does it support Sigma DG DN and Tamron Di III FE lenses?
Yes — Megadap publishes a maintained compat list covering most Sigma DG DN (Art / Sports / Contemporary) and Tamron Di III lenses. Tamron G2 zooms were added in v2.0.
How is in-lens optical stabilisation handled?
Pass-through — the adapter forwards stabilisation commands so OSS-stabilised FE lenses keep their native IS behaviour on the Nikon Z body without conflicting with Z-body IBIS.
