What this adapter preserves
Compatibility for Leica M lens on a Canon RF body (computed from the lensmount dataset — open the Leica M to Canon RF adapter page for the full verdict, flange clearance, and adapter caveats).
- Focus: Manual focus only
- IS: No IS
- Aperture: Manual aperture ring
- Infinity focus: Reaches infinity
What it does
Mechanical-only — no AF, no electronic communication. Manual focus only with the RF body's focus peaking and magnify aids. The 20 mm RF flange + 27.8 mm M-mount flange leaves the adapter as a short, rigid ring (~8 mm thick).
Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects; the most expensive M → RF adapter on the market (~3-5× K&F / Urth equivalents).
Common questions
- Is the Novoflex EOSR/LEM mechanically tighter than the Urth or K&F M → RF equivalent?
- Yes — measurably so. Novoflex uses CNC-machined aluminum with a dual-screw bayonet retention system that virtually eliminates flange-distance drift over thousands of remounts, and ships a per-unit infinity-focus calibration spec sheet. K&F Pro and Urth use OEM Shenzhen builds with comparable initial tolerances that drift slightly over years of daily use. For occasional vintage-M experimentation on RF the difference doesn't matter; for professional paid work with $5000+ Summicrons / Summiluxes, Novoflex's precision is the right call.
- Does the EOSR/LEM enable close-focus past the M lens's native minimum?
- No — Novoflex's EOSR/LEM is a flat ring with no helicoid. For close-focus extension on Leica M lenses, the Voigtländer VM-E Close Focus is the canonical pick (Sony E only, however — there's no current close-focus M → RF helicoid in Novoflex's catalog). Native minimum-focus distances on M lenses are preserved through this adapter.
- Will the RF body's IBIS work with adapted M-mount lenses?
- Yes — Canon RF body-side IBIS engages with any mounted lens, including manual-focus adapted glass. The RF body asks you to enter focal length manually in the IBIS settings menu when no electronic communication is present; once set, 5-axis IBIS calibrates correctly and stabilises the M lens to ~5-6 stops at typical focal lengths.
