What this adapter preserves
Compatibility for Leica M lens on a Sony E body (computed from the lensmount dataset — open the Leica M to Sony E adapter page for the full verdict, flange clearance, and adapter caveats).
- Focus: Manual focus only
- IS: No IS
- Aperture: Manual aperture ring
- Infinity focus: Reaches infinity
What it does
Looser bayonet tolerance than K&F Pro / Urth — adequate for casual use, not for high-frequency remounting of expensive Leica glass.
Common questions
- Is the 7Artisans M-FE good enough for a Leica Summicron?
- Functionally yes — infinity calibrates and the lens mounts securely — but the bayonet has more rotational play than K&F's Pro line or Urth, and noticeably more than Novoflex's CNC build. For a $4000+ Summicron / Summilux / Noctilux as your primary lens, step up to K&F Pro at minimum, ideally Urth or Novoflex. For occasional use of cheaper M-mount glass (7Artisans's own line, Voigtländer Nokton, TTArtisan) the 7Artisans adapter is fine.
- Does it work with TTArtisan M-mount lenses?
- Yes — TTArtisan is a sister brand under the same Shenzhen Mingyu Optical parent. Their M-mount lens line (35 f/1.4, 50 f/1.4, 90 f/1.25) mounts and behaves identically on this 7Artisans adapter. Both brands' adapters are interchangeable for M-mount lenses.
- Will the 7Artisans M-FE preserve infinity focus?
- Yes — calibration is set so that M-mount lenses hit infinity at their lens-side infinity mark. The bayonet's looser fit doesn't affect infinity calibration directly; it affects rotational play (visible parallax shift when the lens-and-adapter assembly is rotated against the body). Infinity focus is calibrated correctly out of the box.
