Specific lens compatibility
Per-lens notes for the Sigma MC-21 based on the vendor's published compatibility chart and community-tested behaviour. Three states: works (✓) — full AF / IS / aperture behave as native; partial (⚠) — usable with a documented caveat; issue (✗) — known incompatibility or rough edge.
| Lens | Status | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Sigma 24-70 mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art (EF) | Works | Full AF, OS pass-through, electronic aperture on Lumix S5 / S1H. One of the smoother MC-21 pairings. |
| Sigma 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary (EF) | Works | AF holds for static and slow-tracking work on Lumix S1H; v1.20 firmware stabilised continuous-AF behaviour. |
| Canon EF 24-70 mm f/2.8L II USM | Partial | Added to the Canon-brand chart in v1.20. Single-shot AF is reliable; subject tracking is noticeably slower than on a Lumix-native S Pro lens. |
| Tamron 70-200 mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (EF) | Issue | Not certified on the MC-21 — Sigma's compat list is narrower for Tamron on L-Mount than on Sony. Expect inconsistent AF and unreliable VC pass-through. |
Common questions
- Which L-Mount bodies support the MC-21 with full AF?
- Panasonic Lumix S1 / S1R / S1H / S5 series, every Sigma fp variant, and Leica SL2 / SL3. AF is most polished on the Lumix S5 / S1H pairing.
- Can the MC-21 mount Sigma SA-mount lenses as well as Canon EF?
- Sigma sells two physical variants: MC-21 EF (takes Canon EF + Sigma Global Vision EF) and MC-21 SA (takes Sigma SA-mount glass). Pick the one matching your lens collection.
- Does it work with Sony or Canon mirrorless bodies?
- No — L-Mount is the body-side mount, so the MC-21 only fits L-Mount Alliance bodies (Leica / Panasonic / Sigma). For Sony E-mount use the Sigma MC-11 instead.
