What this adapter preserves

Compatibility for Nikon F lens on a Sony E body (computed from the lensmount dataset — open the Nikon F to Sony E adapter page for the full verdict, flange clearance, and adapter caveats).

  • Focus: Partial AF
  • IS: IS / IBIS preserved
  • Aperture: Electronic aperture
  • Infinity focus: Reaches infinity

What it does

Built-in stop-down ring engages the lens's aperture lever — required for G-type Nikkors that lack an aperture ring on the lens itself. AI / AI-S / AF-D users set aperture on the lens ring as usual; the adapter ring is left wide open.

Common questions

Why does the K&F Nikon F-NEX Pro have an aperture ring on the adapter itself?
Because Nikon's G-type lenses (released 2000 onwards) removed the lens's aperture ring — aperture is set electronically on the body. On a mirrorless body with no Nikon electronics, the adapter's built-in stop-down ring is the only way to control aperture: it mechanically pushes the lens's aperture lever, closing the iris. For older AI / AI-S / AF-D Nikkors with their own aperture ring, leave the adapter ring at wide open and set aperture on the lens.
Can it autofocus AF-S Nikkor lenses on a Sony body?
No — mechanical adapter, no electronic communication. AF-S lenses still have their in-lens motor, but with no AF protocol from a Sony body, the motor never receives focus commands. Sony focus-peaking and magnify-to-focus aids are the workaround for manual focus. For AF on F-mount lenses through to Sony E, the Commlite CM-ENF-E1 Pro is the only viable option.
Does the adapter preserve VR (vibration reduction) on Nikkor VR lenses?
No — VR runs from Nikon body firmware over Nikon's F-mount electronic protocol. With a mechanical adapter, no electronics pass through, so VR stays inactive even though the lens's motor is still physically present. On-sensor IBIS in your Sony body (5-axis on most current FE bodies) handles stabilisation instead.
