What this adapter preserves
Compatibility for Pentax K lens on a Sony E body (computed from the lensmount dataset — open the Pentax K to Sony E adapter page for the full verdict, flange clearance, and adapter caveats).
- Focus: Manual focus only
- IS: Lens-only IS
- Aperture: Adapter aperture wheel
- Infinity focus: Reaches infinity
What it does
Copper-inset bayonet for tight rotational fit. SMC FA Limited (31 mm f/1.8, 43 mm f/1.9, 77 mm f/1.8) and DA Limited (15 / 21 / 35 / 40 / 70 mm) primes mount cleanly with infinity-focus calibrated.
Common questions
- Will Pentax KAF (autofocus) lenses autofocus on Sony E through this adapter?
- No — mechanical adapter with no electronics. KAF lenses still have their AF mechanism, but there's no Pentax-to-Sony AF bridge in the market at any price. Focus manually using Sony's focus peaking and magnify-to-focus aids. The adapter does preserve infinity and the lens's aperture-ring control (on K, KA, and FA lenses with rings).
- Does the adapter have an aperture ring for ring-less DA-series Pentax lenses?
- No — the K&F K-NEX Pro is a pure mount-format converter without a built-in stop-down mechanism. Most ring-less DA-series lenses (DA 18-55, DA 50-200, DA 18-135) can't be stopped down on this adapter and stay wide open. SMC FA Limited and DA Limited primes (15, 21, 35, 40, 70) all retain their aperture rings and work correctly.
- Will Pentax SR (Shake Reduction) stabilisation work through the adapter?
- No — Pentax SR is body-side IBIS in K-mount bodies, not in the lens. With a Sony body, Sony's IBIS (5-axis on FE / A7-series) handles stabilisation instead. Set the focal length manually in the Sony menu (Steady Shot → focal length) when adapting K-mount primes so IBIS calibrates correctly.
